The Expert Global Solutions (EGS) has opened a facility in this town bringing at least 1,200 job placements for the residents in the province.
Located in a commercial area of Barangay 1, San Francisco, San Nicolas, the EGS building, which can accommodate 1,500 employees in its full capacity, was inaugurated on April 26 in the presence of EGS employees and local officials led by Governor Imee Marcos.
The EGS, one of the global’s leading Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firms, initially started its operation in the province in 2014. Its temporary facility was placed at the Centennial Arena in Laoag City offering hundreds of jobs to Ilocanos.
Marcos cited the commitment of EGS led by its President and Country head Bong Borja to the province as well as the positive social impact of having quality jobs in Ilocos Norte.
“The entry of the BPO sector here is truly inspiring because after all, Ilocanos have traveled throughout the world only to look for jobs, leaving their families. There is the real benefit EGS is giving us today, and that is the social and psychological benefit of staying home. You are keeping Ilocano families together, that we could stay home,” Marcos said.
In response, Borja shared that the company chose to open a site in Ilocos Norte because of the abundance of Ilocano talent and the provincial government’s relentless support.
“The (provincial government of Ilocos Norte) is committed to making the operation successful,” Borja said in a press conference, adding that they will continue partnering with universities in the province to fill – in the vacancies.
He said being a part of the EGS team provides (employees) a world class skill aside from a competitive salary, benefits and incentives.
With the initial success of the BPO facility in the province, Marcos expressed optimism that the their local investment growth will further boost economic development as more local businesses are expected to flourish in the area including cafés and restaurants.
