PLDT to Open 2 Data Centers for Enterprise Business

Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) expects to sustain the double-digit growth in its enterprise business with the opening of its two data centers in Makati and Clark by mid-2016.

In the first quarter this year, revenues of PLDT’s enterprise group grew 10 percent to P7.55 billion, maintaining its position as the preferred digital services provider for the corporate market.

Of total enterprise revenues, fixed line and information and communication technology (ICT) service revenues amounted to P6.44 billion, up 10 percent year-on-year, while wireless revenues rose 15 percent to P1.11 billion in the first quarter.

Fixed line enterprise revenues, which were driven by data services, grew 15 percent.

Corporate data and data center revenues rose 24 percent to P3.2 billion during the period, accounting for 24 percent of total data and broadband revenues.

This segment also posted a P0.3 billion increase from December last year, the highest quarter-on-quarter growth since the first quarter of 2015.

“Our services in the digital and IT solutions have shown steady growth, clearly underscoring the PLDT Group’s efforts in this digital transformation for our enterprise market. We expect to give this a further boost as the new data centers we are building come online very soon,” said Eric Alberto, PLDT executive vice president and head of Enterprise, International and Carrier Business.

The PLDT Group has the largest data center footprint in the country currently with six data centers, and will add two more with the opening of VITRO Makati and VITRO CLARK by mid-2016. Once operational, the PLDT Group will have unmatched rack capacity at over 8,300, placing it in the best position to serve the digital and ICT needs of the country’s enterprise customers.

“Digital enablement allows large enterprises to off-load their IT needs and focus on their core business, while small and medium enterprises acquire the ability to reach out and expand their market beyond the traditional geographic limitations using e-commerce solutions,” Alberto said.

Data and ICT services including co-location, business continuity, Disaster Recovery, hardware and software implementation, Big Data and Analytics services, and Cloud services have contributed to ICT revenues, while Professionally Managed ICT end-to-end services, in terms of implementing technologies for companies, supported the surge in ICT revenues for the first quarter of 2016.

“These digital innovations coupled with strong data connectivity have significantly impacted and benefitted local industries, boosting the competitiveness of Philippine companies. All of these, together with our strategic thought leadership programs to empower and educate all levels of businesses, have hastened the pace of digital adoption by enterprises,” said Alberto.

PLDT has invested over P300 billion in capital expenditures over the past 10 years in anticipating the demand for telco and ICT infrastructure to support the growth of data-heavy industries. These include the heavy local and international bandwidth requirements of the business process outsourcing sector in the different IT hubs of the country.

PLDT has also partnered with leading global ICT service providers to introduce digital enterprise solutions in the country as well as developing homegrown innovations from digital unit Voyager Innovations.

PLDT has the most expansive fiber optic network in the country with more than 100,000 kilometers and is linked to four international cable landing stations.
