Iloilo Business Park to attract BPOs, conventions

Iloilo City — Metro Iloilo is gearing for the entry of more business process outsourcing (BPO) companies and the hosting of major conventions.

Jericho Go, senior vice president of property developer Megaworld Corp., gave this assessment after a citation was given by the Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO) under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Business Process Association of the Philippines (BPAP), declaring Iloilo as a Center of Excellence for BPO companies.

He said that, with the citation, Metro Iloilo expects to get a bigger share in the country’s BPO industry and a top choice to host meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE).

Go said this also meant that more BPO companies will be attracted to locate future offices at Megaworld’s 72-hectare Iloilo Business Park.

Megaworld’s upcoming hotel project has also reaped two major awards.

The Marriott Courtyard Hotel, which is expected to be completed this year, was named as “Highly Commended” for Best Hotel Development and Best Hotel Interior Design during the recent 2016 Philippines Property Awards.
