BUSINESS-processing outsourcing (BPO) company SPi Global has struck a definitive agreement with Japanese firm Relia Inc. for the acquisition of the former’s customer-relationship management business (CRM) in the Philippines, the United States and Nicaragua.

The business segment, under the legal entity SPi CRM Inc., is the largest independent customer-relationship management-outsourcing provider in the Philippines.

With more than 10,000 employees in 11 locations globally, SPi CRM serves clients across various industries in the US and the Asia-Pacific region, delivering multilingual solutions covering the entire customer life cycle.

Relia is listed in the Tokyo Stock Exchange with a market capitalization of ¥73 billion and has over 30 BPO centers in Japan, China, Thailand and Vietnam.

“With our combined strengths, we will give birth to one of Asia’s biggest BPO providers, with over 30,000 employees in over 40 locations serving 700 clients globally, many of them Fortune 100 companies,” Relia President Jun Nakagome said.

Despite this transaction, SPi Global President Maulik Parekh will continue to lead the SPi CRM business.

“SPi CRM is a natural and strategic fit for Relia. Maulik and his management team have built a strong company with a culture similar to ours focused on creating significant value for its employees, its clients and its investors,” Nakagome said.
