AUSTRALIA’S Sydney Harbor Tall Ships, a company operating cruises and private charters, will open its first call center in the Philippines with full operations expected early next year. This was confirmed in a statement by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Marty Woods, owner of the SH Tall Ships, cited the talent pool in the Philippines as the reason why it chose to locate here, saying that “Filipinos share the same language and outlook as Australians.”
The call center would support the company’s business offering day trips in Sydney Harbor and exclusive charters, specifically in handling customer queries, bookings and accounting, the DTI said, with the office being planned to be based in Pampanga while filing for incentives under the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
According to the 2012-2016 IT-BPM Roadmap, the sector has grown at an annual rate of 30% over a decade, faster than the growth of the global offshore services market.
This momentum is expected to carry over as the Information and Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) prepares to present its new six-year roadmap with a projection of up to 2022 this month.
