Genpact was among Top Companies to Work for in Asia and its Country Manager was among six Outstanding Leaders in Asia.

The Philippine branch of Genpact Services LLC scored a double victory in this year’s Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability (ACES) Awards, which annually recognizes the most commendable companies and leaders in Asia in terms of leadership and corporate social responsibility.

The professional services firm was among the two distinguished winners under the Top Companies to Work for in Asia category (the other was Malaysia’s Berjaya Starbucks Coffee Company). At the same time, the company’s Country Manager Danilo Sebastian L. Reyes was among the six Outstanding Leaders in Asia.

“This is our first time and we are extremely proud that we won two awards,” said Reyes. He attributed these double wins to the Lean Six Sigma principles that are inherent in Genpact’s DNA. Lean Six Sigma is a synergized management concept combining the strategies of elimination/reduction of wasteful practices and improvement of overall quality of outputs by identifying and removing causes of errors.

Genpact was established in the U.S. in 1997 as a shared services arm of General Electric. It became an independent company in 2005 and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2007. The Philippine operations started in 2006, initially serving GE clients and eventually began servicing different clients from the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and now Europe. It has close to 5,000 employed personnel in the Philippines.

Ahead of the game
Among the many notable corporate traits of Genpact Philippines is its pioneering spirit. The company started pivoting to digital practices focused on customer experience as early as four years ago. “At that time, we developed plans that combined domain + insights + digital” Reyes recalled.

The company was able to harness the power of its process expertise, incorporate analytics with technology to attain Lean digital—a combination or process, intelligence, and technology. “Because of that, all our decisions in terms of acquiring technology and rolling out training programs were geared towards how to enhance our expertise in Lean digital.

“We’ve come to a very exciting period in our corporate life. Often, we now have a seat in the table crafting business strategies with our clients. Before, we were just a partner in outsourced operations. We have the process expertise, analytics, and technologies that are focused on nine specific industries. We are able to provide value to those customers,” Reyes continued explaining.

Edge in leadership
Reyes shared the main principle he is upholding as a leader. “For me, integrity is an important trait of a leader. If the people in your company actually see that you are true to what you are saying, they will follow,” Reyes said.

He has also been vocal about his vision for the company. For him, a leader should also set directions so his people can see where the organization is going and at the same time be empowered. “Once the team members embrace your vision, you should let them own it so they can run and execute it,” he explained.

Reyes also believes that it is necessary to make an organization’s members like what they are doing, like the people they are working with, and agree with the purpose of what they are doing as a team. “That’s what we’ve been trying to do in the last 11 years and I think we’ve been successful in that,” he said.

Lastly, Reyes emphasized the value of sharing best practices with other players in the industry. He revealed that Genpact Philippines’ membership in the Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP) was an advantage as it facilitated a venue for the company to be able to share and learn new ideas, challenge norms, and be able to help others in terms of best practices. “We are able to champion the industry to other stakeholders,” he asserted.

ACES recognizes the achievements of local and multinational businesses across Asia for their respective contributions to the communities where they do business in, to the society, to the environment, and to the world at large. This year, nine awards in various categories were bagged by Philippine-based companies.

The ACES Awards has just bestowed upon Genpact Philippines the honor of being among the Top Companies to Work for in Asia. And what’s more, Dan Reyes, Genpact’s Country Manager of Philippines, has been recognized as Outstanding Leader in Asia.

Genpact’s people-centric approach and our demonstration of a strong commitment towards employee empowerment and enrichment have been key contributors for this award. In addition, Genpact’s investment in their people and their skill development, and robust programs for rewards and recognition were also key reasons for their distinguished award in the Top Companies to Work for in Asia category.

Dan Reyes won the Outstanding Leader in Asia award for his sound leadership in spearheading the growth of the company as well as the industry in the country. He has demonstrated sound business acumen and passion and is a remarkable example of a dynamic Filipino leader. Congratulations, Dan! And congratulations to Genpact Team Philippines also!
