Manila, Philippines, May 6, 2019 — Teleperformance, the global leader in outsourced omnichannel customer experience management, turned over to The Foundation Foundation Philippines (TFF-PH) 1,100 self-care kits that were crowd-sourced from Teleperformance Philippines employees. Each self-care kit contains shampoo and conditioner, cosmetics, and other personal hygiene items.
TFF-PH is a volunteer group of beauty enthusiasts that aims to empower survivors of sex trafficking by providing them with avenues for self-care. It actively supports organizations who work directly with the rescue and sheltering of survivors through fundraising and awareness-building.
The global problem of sex trafficking remains a big challenge to governments. The U.S. State Department’s Human Rights Report in 2017 estimates that every year 400,000 Filipinas, children included, are trafficked into the sex trade. Even after being rescued, they continue to suffer from the stigma of their victimization.
Tish Martinez-Castillo of TFF-PH said that “Part of the survivor’s life is dealing with shame. These women live with the shame of their past and the healing process can be difficult. Foundation Foundation believes that make-up can contribute to their healing process by helping them look good and feel beautiful about themselves.”
The self-care kits were turned over by Teleperformance Philippines Vice President of Human Resources Rachel Cacabelos and Diversity and Inclusion Manager Philip Del Rosario. Representatives of TFF-PH and their partner-beneficiaries from non-government organizations Made in Hope – She WORKS and Wipe Every Tear received the kits and committed to continue providing practical and effective solutions that bring hope and healing in the lives of women trafficked in the human trade.
The 1,000-Care-Kit Challenge is one of the initiatives implemented by Teleperformance for the International Women’s Month 2019, together with women empowerment workshops, vision setting for career development, and Fight like a Girl self-defense workshop.
