Cagayan De Oro City, Philippines, July 6, 2026 Reinforcing its commitment to advancing digital literacy and introducing more Filipinos to the opportunities enabled by technology and artificial intelligence (AI), TP in the Philippines, a global leader in digital business services, has donated 15 computer units to support the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 10’s Smart Village Initiative (SVI) in Northern Mindanao.

The turnover initiative aims to help underserved communities gain greater access to computer literacy, digital training, and emerging technologies that can open pathways to employment and entrepreneurship. The donation forms part of TP’s broader advocacy of empowering communities through technology and equipping Filipinos with future-ready skills in an increasingly digital and AI-driven economy.

“Through initiatives such as this, TP in the Philippines continues to strengthen its role as a partner in nation-building by helping communities gain access to digital resources, basic computer literacy, and introductory AI knowledge—critical competencies that can prepare more Filipinos for the evolving future of work,” said TP in the Philippines Vice President for IT Jaime Garcia.

TP in the Philippines, through its Cagayan De Oro site, turned over computer units that will directly benefit learners and trainees in the identified Smart Villages. The company said the initiative aligns with its continuing efforts to help bridge the digital divide while promoting inclusive growth through education and technology access.

The DICT adopted the Smart Village Initiative of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to empower unserved and underserved communities through improved internet access, digital training, and e-government services. In Region 10, three Smart Villages have been established in Camp Bilal in Lanao del Norte, Dalingap in Misamis Occidental, and Capihan in Bukidnon, serving as models for digital transformation and inclusive rural development.

DICT Region 10 further conducts a series of inclusive ICT skills training sessions in these communities to help selected participants move closer to ICT-related job opportunities. Through training programs focused on office productivity applications, AI tools, and social media marketing, participants gain practical digital competencies that can support their entry into the tech-enabled workforce.

DICT officials further emphasized that through public-private sector collaborations such as these help ensure rural more communities are included and not left behind amid rapid technological advancement. They noted that access to digital tools and foundational ICT education can significantly improve opportunities for livelihood, learning, and participation in the digital economy.
