Customer Xperience Capital: Why The Philippines made the shift

Date:
September 10, 2026

The Philippines Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector has evolved far beyond being just the world’s call center capital. With approximately $40.3 billion in export revenues in 2025, the sector is set to end 2026 with $42 billion in revenue, employing over 2 million professionals across the country.

PH Has Always Taken the First Step

Long before “outsourcing” became a global buzzword, the Philippines was already laying the groundwork for what would become one of its most important economic engines and drivers. As the sector started in 1992, the country was ready to supply the first wave of offshore back-office and support operations

By 2000, the Philippine BPO industry accounted for 0.075% of the country’s GDP. Budgets for infrastructure, education, and training were prioritized to maintain the momentum. In just a decade, the country has been declared world’s BPO capital, overtaking India in voice-based services.

The Box has Gotten Smaller

The “box” of traditional call center metrics such as calls answered, minutes logged, and tickets closed, has become too small to capture what clients and their customers actually expect.

Customer experience (CX) is no longer just about resolving a complaint or closing a ticket or addressing customer concerns. In the context of contact centers, CX now covers the entire relationship a customer has with a brand.

With the leadership of organizations like the Customer Xperience Association of the Philippines (CXAP), the whole industry is making the pivot. This timely move reflects a more genuine shift in what Filipino talent is being asked, and trusted, to do: not just answer calls but design experiences, assist in problem solving with empathy, and integrate available technology to make the processes seamless.

Xperience Tech with Heart

With the rise of artificial intelligence, automation, and advanced analytics, Filipinos have been equipped to realize its potential and transcend hospitality through customer experience. After all, clients are not just outsourcing manpower anymore, they’re expecting outsourcing partners to bring technology, insight, and innovation to the table. What remains to be at the center of these improvements is the heart of the Filipino–our undying commitment to service and natural motivation of helping others.
