CCAP Readies Industry Curriculum for Senior High School

Date:
January 4, 2016

The contact center industry is well poised to support the country’s new basic education system when it takes full effect in June 2016.  This is particularly true for Senior High School (grades 11 and 12) with the expansion of the Contact Center Services (CCS) curriculum.

CCS was developed in 2013 by a CCAP technical working group and was originally designed for the 18-hour near hire training program of TESDA.  When the Enhanced Basic Education Law of 2013 (Republic Act 10533) was enacted, CCS was included in the Senior High School curriculum.  Seeing that the Senior High School will need a more comprehensive curriculum, CCAP expanded the subject to an average of 600 hours per semester fit the new education requirement.

Under the new curriculum, grades 11 and 12 students can choose one subject from the Applied Track Subjects, including CCS, on top of the required 18 core subjects.  CCS is one of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) subjects under the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood track.  Other tracks include:  Academic, Sports, and Arts and Design.

The technical working group that worked on the TESDA version of CCS in 2013 were representatives from:  Aegis People Support, Convergys, EGS, East and West Corp., Genpact, ePerformax, Global Innov8tion, Stream, Qualfon, Sykes, Sitel, TeleTech, Telepeformance, WNS, and VXI.

Members of the 2015 technical working group that expanded the curriculum for Senior High School included:  Alorica, Cognizant, Curo Teknika, HP, Sitel, SPi Global, Sutherland, Teleperformance, West, and Wipro.

Asia Pacific College (APC) provided technical support for both TESDA and Senior high School versions of CCS.
