MANILA – Mexican companies are looking to invest more in the Philippines’ Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry, Mexican Ambassador to the Philippines Julio Camarena said on Thursday.

He said companies are also keen on investing in various sectors like construction, retail and telecoms.

Camarena said Mexico is willing to work very closely with President-elect Rodrigo Duterte in bringing investors to the country.

“We’re excited to start a new process in which Mexican companies can indeed come over and invest additionally in the Philippines,” he said.

Because both nations share similar language and culture, the Philippines should also take advantage of this ease of doing business with Mexico, he added.

“Mexico is trying to attract many more Philippine companies to come into Mexico. Mexico has signed the North America Free Trade Agreement, so any products you bring into Mexico has immediate access to US and Canada, so you have a much larger public consumption and possibilities to attract,” he said.
